SS-316 boiler tubes are heat exchanger or pressure tubes made from Grade 316 stainless steel, an austenitic alloy with exceptional resistance to corrosion and high-temperature strength due to the addition of molybdenum. They are ideal for use in harsh environments such as marine applications, power plants, and chemical processing.

Corrosion Resistance: The 2-3% molybdenum content provides superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-containing media, seawater, and acidic environments (sulfuric, acetic, hydrochloric acids).
High-Temperature Strength: They exhibit higher creep, stress-to-rupture, and tensile strength at elevated temperatures compared to SS-304, maintaining structural integrity in steam-generating systems. They can operate at temperatures up to around 650C (1200F) in continuous service.
Durability and Longevity: The material's robust mechanical properties, including high tensile strength (min 515 MPa) and yield strength (min 205 MPa), ensure durability and a long operational lifespan under high pressure and stress.
Weldability and Formability: SS-316 tubes offer excellent workability and can be welded using standard methods, though for heavy welding applications, the low-carbon variant 316L (UNS S31603) is often preferred to minimize carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion.
Hygiene: Their smooth, non-reactive surface makes them easy to clean and resistant to bacterial growth, which is vital in pharmaceutical and food processing applications
